Yuri Gidzenko

Yuri Gidzenko

Yuri Gidzenko is a fighter pilot, experienced cosmonaut and great leader for the crew. He was commander of Mir on his first flight, at age 33, and was then selected to be one of the first crew of three on the International Space Station. He is twice a Hero of Russia. He has a wonderfully engaging nature, a great sense of humour, an exceptional talent for flight, and he can crack the whip when needed.
